three hour riverboat journey to the national park with mostly german and japanese tourists. leaving the tembeling river jetty


steep shaky staircase in kuala taman, malaysia tourist chalets across the river from taman negara national park.  the dorm was filled up, which was too bad because i knew people staying there, so the manager gave me this private air conditioned chalet with shower right next door for the same price.

now when you see a king cobra stand very still... do you know how hard it was to shake that thought everywhere i walked? while our guide lectured our group about natural foods found in the jungle, we all tried eating some cinnamon bark sliced right off the tree but i was much more interested in looking at these blue ferns.


surprise, you sweated six gallons to see this uninspiring view!  we were expected to gasp and take photos. on the water taxi, nearing floating restaurants and offices

nighttime shining to spot snakes, but we only saw one.  where i come from, northern minnesota, this type of activity, for instance spot shining deer, is illegal. the end of the canopy walkway.


army ants the next day i rescued these two clueless girls in singapore by buying them water and a map... then ditching them as fast as i could so we wouldn't end up together at the inn crowd hostel in little india.

everyday is like sunday... there was a little rest stop with showers, slow internet access and a place to stash backpacks, but only the mobile phone store, a few food stalls and the kentucky fried chicken restaurant in jerantut town was open chinatown lantern
